The Geokinetics Companies

In September 2006, Geokinetics Inc., expanded its group of companies by acquiring Grant Geophysical, Inc., and its wholly owned subsidiary Solid State Geophysical.

Prior to September 2006, the Geokinetics group of companies worked predominantly on projects for the US and Canadian markets. Now, as a result of the Grant Geophysical acquisition, Geokinetics is a leading geophysical service company offering a broad range of geophysical services to the oil and gas industry across the globe.

The individual companies within the Geokinetics group are well known and have strong brands of their own. Effective October 31, 2007 the company changed the names of the data processing and data acquisition subsidiaries:

Geokinetics Processing, Inc. (formerly Geophysical Development Corporation, GDC)
25 years as a leading provider of seismic data processing capabilities and exploration service solutions in all parts of the world including US GOM, Latin America and West Africa.

Geokinetics International Holdings, Inc. (formerly Grant Geophysical)
Bringing over 70 years of proven seismic acquisition and processing expertise in the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Eastern Hemisphere and Asia Pacific to the Geokinetics group of companies.

Geokinetics USA (formerly Quantum Geophysical)
10 years of prosperous seismic acquisition operating history along the US Gulf Coast, Mid-continent and Rocky Mountain regions and Canada.

Geokinetics Exploration, Inc. (formerly Trace Energy Services and Solid State Geophysical) 22 years of successful seismic acquisition operating history in Canada and North America.

In February 2010, Geokinetics Inc. purchased the onshore seismic data acquisition and multi-client data library business of PGS. The combination makes Geokinetics the second largest provider of onshore seismic data acquisition services in the world in terms of crew count and the largest based in the Western Hemisphere. The acquisition builds on Geokinetics’ strengths in transition zone ("TZ"),  ocean bottom cable ("OBC") and land vibroseis data acquisition and adds new operating areas including Alaska and Mexico, as well as certain new countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
